Declining Exports
Exports fell by 2.6% in 2015, representing 20.7% of the country's GDP, and are expected to decline another 7.9% in 2016. In an effort to boost it's under-performing exports, China has allowed the renminbi to depreciate. (Euromonitor International, 2016)
Diversified Exports
China's export destinations are relatively well diversified (42.2% to Asian countries, 18.3% to the U.S.A., and 15.6% to the EU). The composition of the exports, on the other hand, are not so diverse. A large percentage (41.4%) of the China's exports are machinery or electrical equipment and another 12.2% is textiles.
