In 1974, while digging a well, workers discovered one of the most fascinating sightings in the world: The Terra Cotta Army. They unveiled thousands of soldiers sculpted from terra cotta clay, each with unique features of their own. These soldiers were originally painted with bright colors, but across time the colors began to fade. The army is quite organized, as the soldiers are positioned according to ranking. The first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang Di, ordered the construction of this army shortly after taking the throne, and it continued up until his death. It is estimated that these underground pits might contain around 8,000 figures, but it is unsure whether the total will ever be known (Roach).
